PhysicsThis course is designed to introduce students to topics in physics, which is the study of the interaction between matter and forces. The course will emphasize physical and chemical properties of matter, motion, force, energy, machines, and optics. This course will explore topics relevant to students during all units that will create enthusiasm for science by creating a direct relationship between science education and the daily life of high school students. Through lab investigations, students will learn about themselves, their community, and the world around them. Students will frequently design experiments and participate in projects that supplement the physics topics being addressed in class. Science literacy will be emphasized through writing assignments and research projects. As a result of taking this course, students will learn to create and test hypotheses under controlled conditions. This will help students develop the most important skill of all: the ability to separate fact from fiction.
